One example would be those big and powerful Christian events where you very strongly feel God’s presence and can worship the Lord with hundreds of other loving hearts. In such a case we probably have very strong emotions and we feel very happy and ready to do anything. But it does not mean that at other times God is not by our side. We may be home alone or facing some work problems or wherever else in our everyday lives – the powerful emotions may be long gone, but God is still there! So we can’t count on our own feelings.
Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Too often we leave only a little part of our hearts to God. In some part we have everyday life, in other we have our worries, problems… And we leave only a little room for God. Instead the Word of God encourages us to trust in the Lord with all our heart. We can not let anything in our hearts grow bigger.
So, step 3 is to fix our eyes on Jesus.
- Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that YOU WILL NOT GROW WEARY AND LOSE HEART.
Let’s think about Moses for a little. He was in the desert for a very long time and faced many difficulties. And besides all that his people complained a lot and asked Moses why had he brought them there, in the middle of all the problems. Not once we see Moses give up and reply ’Yeah, whatever, let’s go back’. Instead, he cried out to the Lord and every time God was there to help him.
Isaiah 40:30–31: Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
When you are running, it is very important not to grow tired and weary. It is very important to run the whole distance, otherwise why run at all? In our walk with God, we can be sure that he will renew our strenght and we are able to go all the way.
